Egypt

Pyramids! So excited! I'll have to take a picture with a FREEB!RDS sign and try to get my photo put up in the restaurant.

April 20-22: Dehab
April 22-23: Cairo. And the pyramids!

Then back to Jordan.

Israel

This is going to be one of the coolest parts of my trip. Israel is a place I've heard so much about, from the Bible and CNN alike. As a class, we've been preparing for the situations and sights we'll experience in Israel for a while now. It will be incredible to be on the ground experiencing life in Israel for about a month. Here's the schedule of events:

March 19-27: Jerusalem, staying at the Hotel Hashimi.
March 27-28: Bethlehem in the West Bank. We're staying at Tent of Nations (www.tentofnations.org).
March 28-31: Beit Sahour, West Bank. These days will also feature home-stays with local Arab families, facilitated through Holyland Trust (www.holylandtrust.org).
March 31-April 1: Jericho. We're bunking at Auja Center (another Eco-center I believe).
April 1-2: Taybeh, West Bank.
April 2-4: Nablus, at the International Friends Guest House (www.GuestHouse.ps)
April 4-7: Nazareth. We'll stay at the Convent of the Sisters of Nazareth.
April 7-8: Yarok AZ. Staying in the Lower Galilee Hadar and Shahar Barkai (www.yarokaz.co.il/english/)
April 8-9: Arbel
April 9-11: Tabgha
April 11-12: Ibillin
April 12-15: Tel Aviv
April 15-19: back to Jerusalem
April 19-20: Mizpeh Ramon

And at this point, it's off to see the Pyramids in Egypt!

Jordan

I read a book this summer, a biography about Queen Noor of Jordan. And ever since then I've been really interested to see this unique country. I'll get to visit some of the spots mentioned in the book.

March 16-17: Jordan Valley. We're staying in an Ecopark called Foeme-Sharhabil bin Hassneh. I had no idea what an Ecopark was until I checked out the website: http://foeme.org/www/?module=projects&record_id=170. Yup that's the actual website.

March 17-19: Amman. We'll be in the Palace Hotel (www.palacehotel.com.jo/).

From Amman we venture into Israel. We return to Jordan about a month later...

April 24-25: Aqaba
April 25-26: Wadi Rum. We're staying in a Bedouin Camp this night.
April 26-27: Petra. This night too we will be bunking in a Bedouin Camp. You can check it out at www.bedouincamp.net. Here is a little preview:

April 27-28: Madaba. The Mariam Hotel (www.mariamhotel.com)

From Madaba, we fly back to Paris for one more night. Then the semester ends in Paris on April 29. From this point on, I'll be on my own (with friends of course, like my roommate Audrey), and we'll be backpacking around until May 18, when I fly home.

Greece

Greece will most likely be the final stop on my trip. My good friend Arianna Vokos has extended family in Greece and access to a house, where I'm hoping to meet up with her along with my friends Bre Rodriguez and Audrey Uhland, after my semester program is over. Plans are not set in stone yet, but I'll most likely be in Greece the last week of my trip, May 12-17.

Belgium

I'm also considering Belgium for a free weekend option. Brugge and Brussels would be the cities of choice, but no set plans yet. I'm intrigued by the thought of Belgian chocolate though...

Switzerland

Switzerland is one of my options for my free weekend right now (that would be Feb. 12-15). I've been told by my mom and others that Interlaken is amazing, and I'd love to see the Alps up close and personal. Hopefully I will make it out here during my trip!

Morocco

Morocco is a maybe right now. I'm looking into doing a day trip over there possibly while staying in Sevilla with Bre and Audrey, after the semester program is over. We'll see how things pan out!

Germany

Berlin is one of the top choice destinations for my adventures after the Mediterranean Semester program has ended. My roommate Audrey Uhland, who is also on the semester trip with me, has a cousin living in Berlin so we are hoping to stay with her and explore part of Germany. My mom raves about her trip to Berlin back in the 80's, so I'm sure she'll give me some good advice about what to see in this city.

Syria

From Turkey we move to Syria. To be honest, I don't really know anything about Syria, other than its relations with Israel are strained. I've heard of Damascus from the Bible, but modern-day Syria is a mystery to me. I'm excited to explore this brand-new place.

March 11-12: Allepo. We'll be in the Dar Zamaria Hotel (www.darzamaria.com)
March 12-13: Wadi Al Nadara
March 13-16: Damascus

Next stop: Jordan!

Turkey

Yup I'm going to Turkey! After the Europe portion, we head from Paris to Istanbul to begin our adventure into the Middle East. We arrive March 2 in Istanbul...

March 2-6: Istanbul. Staying at the Martinenz Hotel (www.otelmartinenz.com/index.html)
March 6-7: Kalehan, Hotel Kalehan (www.kalehan.com/uk/main.htm)
March 7-9: Antalya, White Garden Pension (www.whitegardenpension.com)
March 9-11: Cappadocia, the Melis Cave Hotel (www.melishotel.com)

And from there on out, we head to Syria. More on the details of my Turkish itinerary later.

Spain

I've never been to Spain, so I'm super excited to visit this country! Plus, it will probably give me a nice break from attempting my French and be a good time to brush up on my high school Spanish. Here's the schedule for this portion of the trip:

January 30-February 1: Cartegena. We'll be staying in Los Habaneros (www.hotel-habaneros-cartagena.com).
February 1-3: Granada. Hotel Corona de Granada (www.hotel-corona-de-granada.com)
February 3-5: Cordoba, at the Hotel Tryp Gallos (www.es.somelia.com)
February 5-6: Cartegena again.

And then it's back to France. As of right now, I'm planning on visiting Spain again after the semester program is over. My good friend Bre Rodriguez is doing a semester in Sevilla, so I plan to go down to meet up with her there in May. I'll also be hitting up Barcelona and Madrid at that time.

Italy

After my time in France and Paris, the program moves to Italy. I've been to a few places in Italy before (Rome, Pisa, Cinque Terra), but I'm excited to get to see new cities. I'm definitely looking forward to the food, as I remember it to be excellent.

February 21-24: Venice. We'll be staying in the Religious Guest House. I'm not really sure what that is, but I guess I'll find out!

February 24-27: Palermo. Staying in the Hotel Crystal Palace, which sounds awesome.

February 27-March 2: Rome. Visiting this city with my family was incredible so I'm stoked to go back. We're staying in the Suore Di Sant-Anna.

And that's it for Italy! From Rome we fly to Istanbul for the next portion of our trip.

France

I fly into Paris on January 8th to begin my time in France. I'm both excited and nervous about the French home-stay portion, where I will be living with a French family for four weeks while attending language classes in Montpellier. I don't speak any French so this should be interesting! Here is the itinerary for France:

January 8: Arrive in Paris. We will stay at the FIAP Jean Monnet (www.fiap-paris.org) overnight.

January 9-30: Montpellier. This the individual home stay portion. I will be living with the Dreyfuss family. I will also be attending Institut Linguistique du Peyrou (www.ilp-france.com). During this period we will also be taking some day trips to nearby places in France.

January 12: Nimes
January 19: Arles and Les Baux
January 26: Avignon
January 28: Aigues-Mortes

We will then have a week-long trip to Spain.

February 6-12: Back in Montpellier, home stays, and language class.
February 9: Carcasonne

February 12-15 is a free long weekend, where we can travel or do whatever we want. Right now, I'm considering going to either Switzerland or Belgium with friends. We meet back in Paris on the 15th.

February 15-19: Paris. We're staying at the FIAP Jean Monnet again.

Then we head off to Italy!
